Can U Be
"Can U Be" is an unreleased song by Kanye West intended for the scrapped album So Help Me God.
While commonly referred to by fans as Can U Be, producer Keyon Christ has called it "Waves".
Premiered before West’s set at the Glastonbury Festival in June 2015, the track has gained notoriety from fans of West, with its high energy vocals and instrumental receiving high praise. About two weeks later, a four second snippet was posted to Instagram of Travis Scott dancing to the song.
In June 2017, a high quality snippet of the track was posted by Music Mafia, a hacker group who sold the music of many high profile artists on its site. The track was put up for the high price of two bitcoin, worth roughly $6,000 USD at the time. Can U Be was never sold and the track is still highly sought after by fans of West.
Mitus, one of the producers for the track, uploaded a song titled "Forever" to his SoundCloud in January 2018. He later stated on Twitter that it was a reworked version of Can U Be's outro. The instrumental for this track was posted in October 2019.
A fan who went to the listening party for West's Ye album in May 2018 asked West about the status of Can U Be. West simply replied that it wouldn't be released because he "wasn't really feelin' it".
